CAP Lottery Bid

The Community Activity Park, planned for Gorleston, has applied for the new Big Lottery 'Living Landmarks' fund.

If the bid is successful the project could begin construction by the end of 2006!

The CAP Project is being planned by five local community groups and would see the creation of a 25 acre parkland with landscaped wooded grounds providing free access to community gardens and wetlands, nature trails, exercise and cycle paths, children's play areas, picnic areas, outdoor sports and healthy exercise areas, tournament-sized fishing lakes, amphitheatre for music, performance and arts events, tree-walks and climbing wall, accommodation units and a Safety Zone among many other facilities!

The main CAP building will be part-set into the ground, nestling deep within the parkland and will contain national competition-sized roller-skating and/or ice rinks, multimedia and internet training centres, music and arts training centres, performance and rehearsal rooms, function room and conference centre, community cyber café, childcare and crèche facilities, community social enterprise workspaces, community facilities for local groups, green energy and environmental educational centre... and many more attractions.

The CAP will create hundreds of jobs and boost the entire area with a landmark all-weather visitor destination.
